UNHRC tents are funded by
donations from the Hike to Help
Refugees program.

The Hike to Help Refugees (501(c)(3) aims to increase awareness and understanding of issues faced by refugees around the world and empower individuals to make a positive impact at the local community level.

To support this mission, the Hike to Help Refugees physically engages individuals to walk the path of a refugee.  Along their journey, participants are energized by the knowledge that every dollar given to support their hike is directly and positively impacting refugees.  Since the hike began, contributions have allowed the purchase of tents for refugee families through USA for UNHCR.  USA for UNHCR is a non-profit organization building support in the United States for the humanitarian work of the UN Refugee Agency (UNHCR).

Funds are raised by organizing community hikes in which hikers are required to obtain a minimum sponsorship. 100% of funds raised through sponsorship are routed directly to the aid of refugee populations.  None of these funds are used for the operational costs of the organization.

In 2008, hikes will be held in Omaha, Iowa City, Des Moines, and along the Wabash Trace Nature Trail. To learn more about us and to register for a hike please explore our menu above and the list of hikes to the right.
